Call for papers

Abstract Submission

We encourage all participants to submit a two-page abstract with figures.

Abstracts will be published online as supplementary section of the journal Microscopy and Microanalysis. Additionally, selected abstracts will be published in a special issue on in situ electron microscopy in Microscopy and Microanalysis.

Participants submitting an abstract will be given preference to admission to the conference.

INSTRUCTIONS

We provide a word processing template that has been pre-formatted for your convenience. Please download the template and use it for formatting and writing your oral or poster abstract. Following the instructions is binding.

The total length of the abstract must not exceed two pages Letter format with 2.54 cm (1 inch) margins top and bottom, 1.91 cm (0.75 inches) margins left and right, including, if applicable, figures, acknowledgments and/or references. The text should be typed in 12 pt Times New Roman with single line spacing.

Please include the abstract’s title, authors (name format: First name followed by last name), and affiliations. Please underline the presenting author!

Please note that all line drawings and figures must be electronically inserted into the paper. Be sure to include figure labels and scale markers. At most two figures may be inserted. Each figure may have four panels.

Please check the spelling and grammar carefully. Any errors in spelling, grammar or scientific data will be reproduced as typed by the author.

Oral presentations

Contributed talks will be allocated 15 minutes, including discussion.
Invited talks will be allocated 25 minutes, plus 5 minutes for discussion.

Posters

Posters will be displayed during the conference. Each poster will be allocated a DIN-AO panel (width 841 mm x height 1189 mm) and the poster must fit within this area. Presenters are expected to stand by their posters and answer questions during the poster session.

  • The scientific committee will decide on the acceptance of the abstracts and allocate the form of presentation, taking into account the preference of authors wherever possible but also the balance of the program. Authors will be notified by e-mail of abstract acceptance and of the type of presentation.
  • All presenters will be required to register for the conference and pay the appropriate registration fee. Presenters also need to meet their own travel and accommodation costs.
